“Eternal Flame” Hybrid Tea Rose

Rose Cake - Favorites

"Eternal Flame" Hybrid Tea Rose
It seems three roses with the name "Eternal Flame". It is also known as Meifacul. This is the only hybrid tea with "Eternal Flame" name. It has a pleasant scent and color is a beautiful yellow.

Bred in France in 2007, this is another of Alain Meilland roses. It is nice to be able to post roses. The large rose garden is coming along well, even if on a very cold and windy site. I can not wait to start taking pictures a little more pink.

My day was really nice, we had about 15 people over and I think everyone had a good time. I have 5 houses planned for the rest of the week.

Dianthus deltoides ‘Double North’

Coreopsis+200x200 Dianthus deltoides 'Double North'

Dianthus deltoides 'Double North', this was  not ordinary plant or flower in my country. This plant not can you find easy, you must little hard to find.  Here little about Dianthus deltoides 'Double North'.

Dianthus deltoides 'Double North'
(dy-AN-thus) (del-TOY-deez)
Synonyms: Maiden Pink

This is the first time I have seen this Dr Keith Hammett (New Zealand) introduction. I thought it was beautiful. The grey-bluish foliage had formed a nice mound and the flowers were on short stems. I really love Dianthus but it has been finicky for me before. I keep trying it anyway. The garden I was working in yesterday had a whole walk way planted with the pink version of this plant and it made a wonderful edge.

I am not going to try and explain my day today. Let's just say it has 4 tractor trailer loads of plant material. From 1-gallon perennials to some 14 to 16 foot White Pines. I am going to be planting the stuff in a couple of weeks. Someone else designed the garden and bought the trees. I just get to dig the holes!

As a follow up to the Nova Zembla Rhododendron bud I posted a couple of days ago here is the flower after it opens. It looks more red when viewed from a distance.

Japanese Wisteria

Exotic Wisterias

Japanese Wisteria, this was great flower from japan. This flower almost will you see entire japan. If you come to my country don't hope to find this flower. Orchid and adenium we have…

Japanese Wisteria
Wisteria floribunda
(wis-TEER-ee-uh)

This is from the Wisteria Tree at the Estate. I wouldn't wish it on anyone because of the amount of pruning it takes to keep it looking good. When it is blooming it sure is beautiful and worth the work. This is its best year in quite a few for flowers. If you have never seen a Wisteria tree it is simply the vine that has been trained into a tree. It is quite vigorous but doesn't need a support. I like to buy my Wisterias in flower although I don't use them very often. I carefully consider where they are planted due to their invasive and rampant growth.

Trailing Calendula
Calendula suffruticosa subsp. maritima 'Skyfire Yellow'
(ka-LEN-dew-luh)

Sea Marigold is a critically endangered species in its native area of Sicily. It really has an intense yellow flower and while it was being sold in the perennial area of the nursery I don't think it is hardy here. Calendulas are always fun to have in the garden. They are a well behaved and colorful groups of plants.

Painted Daisy Flower

Painted Daisy, this was great flower, this flower almost like sun flower. do you know sun flower? Yeah in my country we eat sun flower seed. The name is kuaci. Here is little about Painted Daisy, please enjoy…

GardenPaintedDaisy Painted Daisy

Painted Daisy
Tanacetum coccineum 'Robinson's Mix'
(TAN-uh-SEE-tum) (kok-SIN-ee-um)
Synonyms: Pyrethrum roseum, Chrysanthemum coccineum

If you are here for Wordless Wednesday please scroll down to the next post. That is a 'T' also. Trollius chinensis 'Golden Queen' or Golden Globe Flower.

The Painted Daisy is an old fashioned and fun plant to have in the garden. It is perennial and hardy. The flowers grow to about 18 inches and the finely cut foliage is an added attraction. I deadhead the spent flowers and have divided them in both the spring and fall. Pretty much a carefree plant that will grow in a wide range of soil conditions and full sun to partial shade.

Floribunda Rose

Floribunda Rose, this was great flower plant. If you have time to do someting, you must try this plant at home. This was great rose. Orchid maybe little more beautiful from this rose.
Rosa 'Disneyland Rose'
Synonyms: JACmouse
Introduced: United States (2004), Jackson & Perkins
Petal Count: 26 to 40 petals
Parentage: Sequoia Gold × Hot Tamale

This rose was in the rose garden when I took it over. It is a clustered flowered/floribunda rose. I probably would have never bought this rose but it has been a good performer. Its delicate shades orange and pink have been interesting and nice to gaze upon. Disney wanted a tough, low maintenance and I am sure a little showy rose and this one delivers. It is the official rose of The Disneyland® Resort and is planted heavily throughout the park. It is also a Jackson and Perkins New Generation rose, which grow on their own roots.

Geranium and Smoke Tree

http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/potd/geranium_gerwat.jpg

Do you know about this plant? Geranium and Smoke Tree – Ruby Tuesday yeah that was the name for this great flower. This flower maybe not make you interesting, but after read the entire article maybe you will change your mind.

Does this Ivy leafed Geranium (Pelargonium peltatum) count as red? You would think that someone who deals with colors professionally might be a little more sure of which color is which. We have been using more Geraniums at work and they continue to amaze me with the different colors and styles available. This was taken at a nursery and I should have bought a couple because the flower was beautiful.

http://www.manchestergardenclub.com/rick/BushesTrees/SmokeTree.jpg
This second photo is a Smoke Tree (Cotinus coggygria). Most often they are referred to as Purple Smoke Tree but it is really a shrub. They always make a nice splash of color in the garden and while the 'smoke' is nice the foliage is the main show. Every couple of years I hard prune mine to stimulate new color and keep them a little smaller. They are easy to cultivate and will grow on a variety of soils. They are a member of the Cashew Family (Anacardiaceae) something I didn't know.

Sorry for such a short post but the heat has been getting to me a little. I like it hot but working in the big rose garden yesterday was intense. It was blazing. don't forget to see my adenium and orchid plant.

Blue-eyed Grass

http://www.nps.gov/wica/naturescience/images/Blue-Eyed-Grass.jpg

Blue-eyed Grass, in the real. I never find this flower in my area. This was great flower. The name Blue-eyed Grass very interesting.

Blue-eyed Grass
Sisyrinchium
(sis-ee-RINK-ee-um)

Not sure what species of Sisyrinchium this is since it arrived in the garden on its own. It is a fun little plant to grow and I will be encouraging it to spread. Apparently there is a bit of confusion of the number and naming of species as they are listed as between 70 and 150. A little research revealed that there is other flower colors available. This is the only color I have ever seen.

It is funny about the name, as it is not actually a true grass but a member of the Iris family (Iridaceae), nor does it have a blue eye. It doesn't seem to be too fussy about where it grows. I have seen it growing in both moist and dry areas and in between rocks. It also seems to be deer resistant.

This was a little Depth of Field experiment that I was performing for my benefit but thought it might be nice to share. Both photos were shot with my D70s and 60mm Micro-Nikkor lens. I have been using Aperture Mode to shoot a lot of my recent pictures. They seem to come out better if I let the camera choose the shutter speed. It must be smarter than me  The first picture is shot with a shallow depth of field (F3.3) and the second was at F9. The problem is I like both of them and can't decide which is better. That is one reason I am posting both of them.

Dendrobium loddigesii Rolfe

Dendrobium loddigesii Rolfe 1887 was named aftar an English botanist Loddiges back in 1800s. It was found in the subtropical forest in Laos, Vietnam, Southwest of China and Hongkong. Live in the moist and humid forest at elevation of 1000 to 1500 m above sea level.

I got this plant about 1 year ago from a nursery in Lembang, about 1000m above sea level. I did not have so much faith that it would grow well at my place, only a few meters above sea level, hot but humid. However, as it was raining quite alot lately, and probably the temperature drop, it bloomed last week.

Enjoy
